Giant Turtles in the desert

I created this mural for a private client in Van Nuys who has a deep love for turtles, with a whole family of them residing in his backyard. He envisioned a mural that would honor these cherished creatures and shared an image from a book of turtles walking in a desert as inspiration.

While I stayed true to the original image, I added a personal touch to make the mural truly unique. I incorporated the faces of his actual turtles, bringing a special connection to the artwork. Additionally, I enhanced the scene with subtle fades and intricate details to give it depth and warmth.

It was a joy to paint with the family of turtles exploring all around me, and a few of them even became friendly with me during the process. This made the experience even more special and memorable. The client was thrilled with the final piece, expressing delight and admiration for how it turned out beyond his expectations.
